Abstract

Background: The increase in the frequency of neurological disorders requires searching for new technological solutions that could improve health care. The purpose of this study was to investigate how the Mobile Stroke Unit influences therapy time and to investigate how teleradiology affects the treatment and diagnosis of neurological diseases.

Material and methods: In order to gather articles for this review, we search on medical bases and used MeSH terms. We used the Rayyan system, a tool dedicated to making author-independent systematic review. We included articles that filled these conditions: English abstract, tracked about teleradiology and neurology, were related to humans. Ultimately, 41 articles were included (2 case reports, 15 case series, 2 Comparative study, 14 Evaluation study, 4 Multicenter study, 3 Randomised study, 3 observational study). We analyzed the time from alarm to CT and from alarm to the therapeutic decision in 12 articles tracking about the Mobile Stroke Unit.

Results: We noticed a shortening of both times compared to traditional treatment. Most articles included in our review tracked the telestroke system. We also noticed that the usage of telemedical tools contributed to positive long-term prognoses in therapeutic processes.

Conclusion: The main conclusion of this study is that the increase in funding the newest teleradiology tools seems sensible. Moreover, it can unburden the health care system and reduce costs.
